Area of Emphasis: Aerobic Exercise: Dog Walking
Health is a concern all over the world. Everyone deserves to live a long and healthy life. By eating the right foods and nutrients, exercising and taking care of yourself, good health can be achieved. Aerobic and anaerobic are two broad categories for types of exercise people can engage in. Aerobic exercise is moving at a moderately intense level for at least 20-30 minutes. Anaerobic exercise focuses on quick bursts of energy for a shorter period of time. While anaerobic exercise is beneficial to your physical health, aerobic exercise is sometimes easier to do when you only have a small amount of time open for working out. Common and easy aerobic exercises include walking, jogging and running. Working out by yourself can be lonely so while exercising consider bringing a friend. Your friend will also get the benefits of the exercise while you both keep each other company. My area of emphasis is on an aerobic exercise, walking. Walking alone is boring and lonely so I suggest walking with a dog. Dogs as a species have developed and evolved throughout history, they have influence our culture and impacted our lives through their support and love.
Over the years, dogs have been domesticated and bred into what we now call man's best friend. We cherish the loyalty, love and joy our dogs give us but dogs were not always this domestic. Dogs have been around for ages. The earliest recording of an ancestor related to dogs is about 38 to 56 million years ago. The domestication of wild dogs began with the Grey Wolf several tens of thousands of years ago. Early humans would use different methods to befriend and tame the wild dogs, like the Grey Wolf. Some wolves were taken as cubs so that the humans could tame them as they grew up and breed the calmer. Other dogs were bribed with food and soon learned that the humans would feed them. As these wolves evolved, the next generations became more tame and domestic. Breeders eventually began to cross breeds to create the variety of dog breeds we see today. It is disputed whether dogs were domesticated about 12,000 years ago or even earlier but DNA research shows that dogs wolves began to transform into dogs about 130,000 meaning they were a part of human society before agriculture was implemented. In the millions of years dogs have existed, they have changed from wild wolves to the dingoes in the brush to the camp dogs that travel around with their families to the domestic dogs that live in our homes.
While dogs are great pets, research has shown how dogs influence our culture and everyday lives. Cultures all around the world have their own opinions of dogs and pets. In certain cultures, dogs are seen only as a source of food or thought of as unclean and left outside. Not every culture treats and thinks of dogs as a pet to love and care for. Dogs can be seen as protectors or companions. While it may differ from house to house, dogs who live with indigenous people often share beds, food and are incorporated into family activities. Having a domestic dog as a pet can affect the choices people make in their day to day lives. Depending on their dog, some people will choose not to live in an apartment due to restrictions and limited space. If they already live in a confined space, they may choose to get a smaller dog. No matter the size of the dog, people will want the companionship. For more elderly folks, having a dog and walking them around the neighborhood may be the only chance they get to make social contact. Knowing that the dog needs daily exercise, elders will want to incorporate dog walks into their daily schedule. Elders may get more lonely as they outlive family members and their grandchildren leave for college. Research has shown that elders create close associations with their furry companions and the well being of them can affect decisions about moving into nursing homes or retiring. How old you are and where you live will affect your decisions about whether to have a domestic dog and the time you spend caring for it.
